New 101 Things in 1001 Days - Start 7.4.13 End 3.31.16

I just finished writing up my last 101 list and now I am ready to post my next 101 list.

Start date: Thursday, July 4th, 2013
End date: Thursday, March 31st, 2016

The plan is to tag/label everything for this list with v2 + info to be able to keep the list apart. I am looking forward to what I will be able to accomplish over the next 1001 days!

Complete 101 preset tasks in a period of 1001 days.

Tasks must be specific (is. no ambiguity in the wording) with a result that is either measurable or clearly defined. Tasks must also be realistic and stretching (ie represent some amount of work on my part).

WHY 1001 DAYS?
Many people have created lists in the fast - frequently simple goals such as New Year's Resolutions. The key to beating procrastination is to set a deadline that is realistic. 1001 Days (about 2.75 years) is a better period of time than a year, because it allows you several seasons to complete the tasks, which is better for organizing and timing some tasks such as overseas trips or outdoor activities.

59. Take a train trip somewhere

59. Take a train trip somewhere - Complete

As mentioned in the last post we took a train ride in Skagway, Alaska. So much fun!!

55. Go on a cruise

55. Go on a cruise - Complete

When I made my 101 list and listed a cruise I never thought I would be going on a cruise that has been on my bucket list for a very long time.

We went on a 7 day cruise from Seattle to ALASKA!!!

We made stops in Ketchikan, Alaska where we saw the lumberjack show.

Went whale watching in Juneau, Alaska...

And also saw the Mendenhall Glaciers in Juneau.

We went on the White Pass Scenic Railway in Skagway.

Although I thought we would see alot more snow, it was still a beautiful train ride.

And we made a quick stop in Canada before making our way back to Seattle.

We took a city tour in a charter bus in Victoria, B.C.

It was a wonderful cruise, and my first! Can't wait to see what other cruises we might take in the future.

Deadline is here

My deadline for my 101 list has come and gone as of July 3rd.

I have a few things left to blog about that occurred at the end of June.

And I also need to post my new 101 list.

So look forward to both of these post soon....

I also plan on posting a final update of the last 101 list I just finish.

And while I didn't finish everything I'm not beating myself up about it because a lot can happen in 1001 days that takes life in any direction.

Updates coming soon!

#97. Go Geocaching with the family - Easter Weekend

#97. Go Geocaching with the family (3/3)
The Saturday of Easter weekend I went to hang out with my family for the day. (Literally, I was hanging with them at one point!) They were camping at Buccaneer State Park in Waveland, MS.
But everyone didn't go geocaching. Mom went...
So did Ashley, Daddy, and D'Lynn Grace!
I can't remember how many different ones we found while we were out but we had fun....
We explored beaches, woods, beside cemeteries, small downtown areas, in neighborhoods, and more!
Overall, it was a successful geocaching adventure!

#97. Go Geocaching with the family

100. Use dehydrator

100. Use dehydrator
I borrowed my mom's dehydrator and have used it a few times... But for the most part I have used it to make Apple Chips. They are simple... Slice apples, soak in diluted Orange Juice for 3-5 minutes (helps the apples from turning brown), spread on dehydrator, sprinkle with cinnamon, and let them run... I let them go for about 18 hours to get the "chip" to them.

72. Matte/Frame photos from Hinds days

72. Matte/Frame photos from Hinds days
I was looking at the blank walls on the office one day while I was working on some of my school and decided it would be the perfect place for some of my photos from my photography classes at Hinds....

Then came the task of picking which photos to put up...

And I couldn't pick just a few to put up on the wall...

So most of them that had mattes made it up on the wall...

What do you think?

70. Fiddler on the Roof

70. Musical Production

Yubby dibby dibby dibby dibby dibby dibby dum.

We went to see Fiddler on the Roof in March.

Family Photo... Minus Rachel who drove up on Thursday for the show
Saturday afternoon, Colin and I drove up to Brandon for a quick trip to see Fiddler On The Roof at Black Rose Theater.
Family Photo take 2
You see, my family had turned the play into a family event. They were all involved. My brother Joshua was Fyedka, my sisters Winnie and D'Lynn were villagers/chorus, my brother Caleb was a stage hand, my dad was the contsable, stage manager, and stage/prop builder, and my mom was the producer.
Heather and Joshua ... aka Fyedka

Heather and Winnie... aka Villager/Chorus
We were able to get into the theater before the doors opened... Because we are VIP... No really... It was a sold out show and we wanted to be able to snag the seats on the front row so Colin would be able to sit against the wall and not block anyones view.
Colin and Heather
The show was wonderful, the cast and crew did a great job! I laughed and sang along to the entire show.
Dad (Larry) aka Constable & Stage Manager & Heather w/ Colin Photo bombing
After the show we had the family photo op time... This photo cracks me up because my mom took it then realized Colin was in the background!

It was a wonderful evening but quite late and very cold.

70. Wicked

70. Go to a musical production

When I heard Wicked would be coming to New Orleans I knew I wanted to go. My sisters had gone to see it but I haven't and I had heard oh so many of my friends talk about how they loved it.

At Colin's parents house
So on a Thursday afternoon we headed over to Colin's parents house, all loaded up in the car, and the four of us headed off to see Wicked in New Orleans.

Waiting for the doors to open
We weren't sure how the traffic would be or the parking would be so we headed out a little early. Thankfully, no traffic and the handicap parking is right by the front doors!

Take your seats
Once the show starts you aren't allowed to take photos so I snagged a quick photo of the stage as soon as we took our seats then tucked away my phone for the show.

After Wicked
Not sure about everyone else, but I LOVED Wicked!!!

69. Oh all the museums

69. Visit Museums (LOTS/4)
When I made my list in October of 2010, I had no idea where life was going to take me.
Since then, I have met Colin, Colin was in a catastrophic life changing wreck and we have learned to adapt to it.
One of those ways is through traveling. So... Here is a list of museums we have visited that I have posted about on our adventures blog...
And I know there are more....
That's just what I have blogged about!

66. Tour a Winery

While in the Smoky Mountains this past February we visited 3 of the wineries on the Rocky Top Winery Trail.
You can't go into the winery areas of the Applewood Winery... Just see some of the containers holding the wine.

But you can get a short tour of the Mountain Valley Winery.

And in the Hillside Winery.

Bacon, Bacon
This one was a winner! Uncle John made a great recommendation! I had the Bacon, Bacon.
Bacon, Bacon - for Bacon lovers!! Mozzarella and Gruyere cheese, and a generous amount of thick cut Bacon
Cheese-ology was a great start to vacation food and a welcome site to see after a long day driving into St. Louis.

62. Fitz's - St. Louis, MO

62. Eat at "new to me" restaurants (14/10)

# 14 - Fitz's - St. Louis, MO

While in St. Louis, we headed over to The Loop to Fitz's. I found Fitz's while reading through my Explore St. Louis guide.

Photo with the owner Michael Alter
Fitz’s Restaurant was opened in 1993. They use a 1940's vintage bottling line that has been refurbished and installed in the resturant for all the guest to watch the bottling. We were told they bottle one bottle every second. Fitz's bottles root beer, cream soda, orange and many other flavors.

Start of the line
Fitz's was bottling orange soda while were there. The owner brought us several bottles right off the bottling line to take home with us.

Love this photo cause you can see the bottles in all stages down the line
As the bottles go down the line, they first get the syrup, followed by the carbonated water, ending with the cap. The bottles then go through a flipping process where they are flipped 5 times. The bottles end the show by getting their labels.

Bottles going through the flipping
Fitz's follows the old school rules for making sodas and uses cane sugar. By using the cane sugar, the drinks don't leave the odd after taste in your mouth.
This photo shows the bottles in all four stages.

My endless mug of orange soda and our bottles right off the line

My Kids size burger and Root Beer based Baked Beans!!!
I got way too hot while we were at the zoo before we went to eat so I was not very hungry. The kids menu has an age limit but they let me order off of it and it was the perfect size. For my side I ordered the baked beans, these were some of the best baked beans I have ever had in my life! The baked beans are made with a Fitz's root beer base!!!
We got a window seat to the bottling line. - Photo with the owner and his daughter
